Welcome to our Whisky Study Group — a monthly virtual tasting held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM via Zoom. Each month, we ship you a curated tasting kit, or you’re welcome to pick it up in person in San Francisco or San Jose.

What Makes This Whisky Study Group Different

Every month, our group works with an $1,800 budget to buy six bottles — and the idea behind the whisky study group club is simple: give everyone a real chance to try hard-to-find bottles they’d likely never encounter otherwise. Some of these are allocated bottles that sell out in minutes or are reserved for high-spending customers. Others come from small distilleries or independent bottlers — the kind of pours that are too expensive to risk buying a full bottle of if you don’t already know you’ll like it. Occasionally, we’ll even feature a bottle that would be too expensive to ever justify buying entirely on your own.

The Bottle Lottery: Our Signature Moment

Here’s what makes this whisky study group club truly special: at the end of each session, every member gets a random chance to buy the remainder of each bottle we tasted. That means you could walk away with a full, prized bottle — one that’s exceptionally rare — to keep or share with friends. This is the moment members look forward to most every month.

A Whisky Education for Every Level

Each session features whisky from a full cross-section of casks — wine, sherry, port, and more — along with both peated and unpeated expressions, older and younger releases, Scotch whisky, and world whisky from beyond Scotland. This program is designed for everyone, from complete beginners to advanced whisky drinkers, and we’re confident you won’t find such consistently excellent whisky at other online tastings.

Monthly Themes

Most months follow a specific education theme, diving deep into a particular region, cask type, or style. Some months, the only theme is simply DGW — Darn Good Whisky.
